Characteristics and uses
Baby corn can be used in salads whole, cubed, cut in to roundels or sliced. Added to mixed vegetables they add colour and sweetness, or used as an excellent ingredient for pasta and rice salads.
Many people relieve that baby corn comes from a miniture corn plant, but this isn’t true. They are harvested at a very immature stage and look like miniture corn cobs in every way.
Dominated by a crisp texture, the corn has a tender and slightly sweet corn flavour.
Typical of normal corn with soft sweetness and corn aftertaste. The miniature size make it appealing to many consumers, especially children.
